In Premier League Round 3, Liverpool beat Arsenal 1-0. After the match, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya spoke to camel.live.
When talking about the conceded goal, Raya said: “I haven’t watched the goal back yet. I’m disappointed I didn’t save it – you want to save every one – but I think it was a really brilliant strike. I remember the ball moved a lot and drifted away from where I was positioned. I hope next time I can make that save. It was a fantastic finish, especially with the new match ball. We still need to adapt to it. The ball went in a direction that was hard for me to reach, so judging it and making the save was even more difficult.”
Speaking about the new Puma match ball, Raya added: “It’s different from the Nike balls we used before, so we have to adapt. It has a different feel and plays differently. We’d been using Nike balls for years, so now we need to adjust. It’s the same situation for everyone.”
When discussing the team’s game plan, Raya stated: “We wanted to play on the front foot, try to silence the opposition, and in the first half, we showed a lot of fight to restrict Liverpool. We have to take the positives from that. Their goal was a moment of magic that came down to small margins. We haven’t lost to a top-six team in a long time. There’s a lot of room for improvement in every aspect and plenty to learn – there’s always something to work on.”
