The 2025 Club World Cup will be hosted by the United States from June 15 to July 13. The tournament will be held across multiple venues in the country, with the opening match at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium and the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
In December 2023,FIFA has announced a new format for the Club World Cup starting from 2025. The revamped tournament will feature 32 teams from around the world, marking a substantial expansion from the previous 7-team format.
The decision to expand the Club World Cup was made to increase the tournament's global appeal and provide more opportunities for clubs from different continents to compete at the highest level. The new format will also align the tournament with the FIFA World Cup cycle, with the Club World Cup now set to be held every four years, in the year prior to the men's World Cup.
Under the new format, the 32 teams will be divided into eight groups of four. Each team will play the other teams in their group in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage. The knockout stage will feature a round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and a final to determine the world club champion.
The distribution of teams among the six confederations reflects an effort to balance representation while recognizing the strength of different regions in club football. Europe will send 12 teams, South America 6, Asia 4, Africa 4, North and Central America and the Caribbean 4, and Oceania 1. Additionally, the host nation will have one representative.
