According to a report from camel.live, after the closure of the Premier League transfer window, Liverpool will not encourage any interest in Federico Chiesa—even though Besiktas has since been linked with the Italian forward.
This summer, Chiesa was linked with several Serie A clubs; reports indicated that both Napoli and Atalanta held an interest in the Italian striker.
Chiesa missed the club’s pre-season tour in Hong Kong and Japan due to dealing with a minor injury issue, which fueled further speculation about his long-term future at the end of July.
However, Chiesa has featured in all three of Liverpool’s Premier League matches this season and scored a crucial goal in the team’s opening fixture against Bournemouth, helping Liverpool secure a 4-2 victory.
Besiktas has already held initial talks with Liverpool’s senior management. Nevertheless, despite Chiesa not being included in the 23-man squad for the Champions League group stage, Liverpool remains determined to retain the 27-year-old.
Chiesa was excluded from the Champions League group stage squad because Liverpool failed to complete the signing of Idrissa Gueye before the deadline, forcing the club to include young winger Liel Abada to meet the homegrown player quota.
That said, Liverpool still believes Chiesa has a role to play in the team. After the international break, he will join the first-team setup alongside Isaac, Ékitiké, and Abada.
With Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez having moved to Bayern Munich and Al-Hilal respectively this summer, Chiesa’s experience and ability are regarded as valuable assets amid the ongoing frontline transition at Anfield.
