Reports suggest that Birmingham City are interested in signing former England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a move that would see Chamberlain and his fiancée Perrie Edwards end their nine-year long-distance relationship.
The 32-year-old Chamberlain currently plays for Turkish side Beşiktaş, having left Liverpool to join the club in 2023. It is reported that Beşiktaş are willing to let him leave if a suitable agreement can be reached. Meanwhile, Chamberlain himself is open to a return to England and has already attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.
If the transfer goes through, Chamberlain will be reunited with his fiancée Perrie Edwards and their 3-year-old son. In 2024, Edwards revealed that the couple had never actually lived together throughout their nine-year relationship.
She stated in an interview in 2024: “I can’t lie, it’s been hard. When he was at Liverpool and living in Manchester, it was manageable to travel back and forth, but Turkey is further away, and he doesn’t get much time off. I’m trying to launch my own career while looking after a 2-year-old, so there’s a lot to juggle, but we do our best for the people we love. The truth is, we’ve never lived together. We’ve been in a relationship for eight years but never actually cohabited.”
