Reporters compiled Chelsea’s weekly report and the second part of an exclusive interview with Moises Caicedo.

On Maresca

“I used to work with Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton, and their styles are very similar.
When Enzo first arrived, I couldn’t say I ‘liked’ him because I didn’t know his coaching style. But when I trained with him for the first time, everything felt familiar – I had already gotten used to this kind of training at Brighton.
Everything has gone smoothly, and it’s certain that he has helped me a lot on this journey.”

On Claude Makelele saying his position should be renamed

“the Caicedo role”“He’s my idol, so of course I feel proud to hear that. Naturally, I still have a long way to go to reach his level, because he achieved so much here.
I met him in the training ground car park. He said to me: ‘You’re the boss on the pitch’, ‘You can do whatever you want because, on the surface, you’re a leader’, ‘You don’t talk much, but you’re a leader’.
These words have made me more confident both on and off the pitch. I’ve kept these words in my heart.”

On his growth experience

“I’ve been through a lot to get where I am today. It’s really been tough.
God and my family will always come first, because they’ve been with me every step of my life. I grew up playing football on the streets with older friends, not on proper pitches like now. That made me stronger.
I want to stay true to the kid I was, because my parents always told me: ‘First you’re a person, then you’re a footballer. Never forget where you come from.’”
