Prediction: Morocco wins
Tanzania have a mammoth task ahead of them if they are to stop this juggernaut Moroccan side. The host nation is in the middle of a golden generation and is coming off an unbelievable record-setting winning streak. They haven’t lost in nearly two years and it would be a historic upset if they were to lose here.
Equally as impressive during that run has been Morocco’s defensive record. They should be able to keep a clean sheet against a Tanzanian side that barely scraped through the group stage. Our Morocco vs Tanzania prediction: Morocco to win to nil.

It’s been a brilliant last few years for Morocco, who finished fourth in the 2022 World Cup and would then go on to set a record or longest national team winning streak at 19 games.
After winning their opening fixture 2-0 against Comoros, Morocco’s 1-1 draw with Mali in Matchday 2 ultimately saw the winning streak come to an end. After the draw, Morocco responded in the perfect manner, cruising to a 3-0 win over Zambia.
The team has lost only twice since the 2022 World Cup, coincidentally against South Africa on both occasions. Bafana Bafana beat the Atlas Lions in 2023 AFCON qualifying, then would go on to knock Morocco out of the 2023 edition in the round of 16 with a 2-0 win.
The big news around the Morocco camp will be the status of team captain Achraf Hakimi. Hakimi came off the bench to play 26 minutes in the final group stage match against Zambia and will be pushing for a return here.
Whether or not manager Walid Regragui deems him fit enough to start the match remains to be seen. The only other injury concern for the hosts is that of defender Romain Saiss, who was forced off after 19 minutes in the tournament opener and hasn’t featured since.
Brahim Diaz and Ayoub El Kaabi, who are co-leading scorers in the tournament, have been tearing up the group stage for Morocco. Diaz, in particular, has been one of the standout players. The Real Madrid man has really been stamping his authority in Morocco’s matches, scoring in all three group stage fixtures.

Tanzania’s two draws was enough to see them sneak into the fourth and final spot for the best third-placed teams. They lost the opening match against Nigeria 2-1, but recovered with a 1-1 draw with Uganda and a surprise 1-1 draw with Tunisia on the final day of matches.
The Taifa Stars are on a lengthy eight-match run without a victory, five of which ended in defeat. Their last win came back in July of 2025 when they beat Senegal 2-1 in a friendly.
As for Tanzania, we aren’t likely to see many changes to the team that drew with Tunisia in the final group stage match. Goztepe midfielder Novatus Miroshi has been the team’s best player so far, posting two assists and leading the team in chances created (4).
Leading the line will be former Aston Villa striker Mbwana Samatta. The experienced 33-year-old has made 78 appearances for the Taifa Stars, scoring 19 goals.
Final Prediction:
Asian Handicap: Morocco -1.5
European Handicap: Morocco wins
Predicted Scores: 2-0, 3-0, 3-1
Predicted Total Goals: 2, 3, 4
