English football legend Michael Owen recently spoke again about English striker Harry Kane of Bayern Munich in an interview, and voiced some criticism of his decision to move to the Bundesliga.
Owen said, “I have always been outspoken about Harry Kane's move to Germany. I think that was a mistake. But hey, people can look at my career and say you shouldn't have done this, shouldn't have done that. I absolutely respect that you have different opportunities or challenges to tackle at different stages of your career. So I have full respect for you.”
Owen had previously criticized Kane's decision, and Kane recently responded calmly to this. Owen then added, "Harry Kane is such an incredible player! He is one of the best finishers we have ever seen. He has made tremendous contributions to the England national team and his clubs, and I sing his praises. I personally wish he hadn't gone abroad; I personally wish he had stayed in the Premier League. I think he has made some decisions that, in hindsight, he will change his mind about if he is honest when he retires. If he had stayed in the Premier League, he would have been close to that record by now. Whether he still has time now is a different matter, and that remains to be seen. But he is a remarkable player who has made great contributions to English football. I am a big fan of his."
