Bayern Munich is interested in extending Harry Kane’s contract in advance, which is set to expire in 2027. Former professional player Dietmar Hamann strongly opposes this plan.
“When Kane’s contract expires, he will be 34. You can’t extend a contract that still has 20 months left,” Hamann said in an interview with Camel Live. “That’s crazy.”
The TV pundit also expressed doubts about Kane’s performance in certain aspects. “At the European Championship, when Kane was substituted, England won the game,” he stated. “It remains to be seen whether he can score against top teams like Paris Saint-Germain or Arsenal.” However, Kane has been in excellent form this season, scoring 19 goals and providing 3 assists in 11 games.
Hamann also argued that the high level of commitment and defensive interventions Kane showed in the 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund were not entirely positive. “Kane shouldn’t be tackling 20 meters from his own goal; this shouldn’t become a regular thing. The first possible consequence is that he won’t be able to score anymore,” the 52-year-old former player said.
Bayern Munich has won all 11 of its official matches this season. After defeating Borussia Dortmund at home, the Munich-based team is currently leading the Bundesliga by a wide margin.
