Transfer | Arsenal earn just £8.57m from summer sales, set to focus on offloading 5 players
Since joining Arsenal as sporting director in March, Edu Gaspar has been pushing to secure signings for Mikel Arteta. However, he now faces the task of raising funds by selling players before the transfer window closes.
So far, Arsenal have earned only £8.57 million from player sales—from left-back Nuno Tavares to Lazio and Marquinhos to Cruzeiro. The board agrees this needs urgent improvement.
Here’s the focus for their next clear-out:
Reiss Nelson: Loaned to Fulham last season but returned early due to injury. Fulham want to re-sign him on loan, but Arsenal prefer a permanent sale.
- Fabio Vieira: The Portuguese midfielder joined for £34.7 million in 2022 but failed to settle. Stuttgart are in talks, with Arsenal seeking £17.35 million (half his original fee).
- Jakub Kiwior: Porto offered £23.4 million (loan with buyout), but Arsenal rejected it. Arteta rates the defender highly and will keep him unless he demands a move.
- Oleksandr Zinchenko: Out of contract next summer, his high wages hinder a transfer. AC Milan enquired earlier, but only Fulham have been linked since, with little progress.
- Albert Sambi Lokonga: Loaned to Sevilla and Luton, but no bids have come for the 25-year-old midfielder—Arsenal are actively seeking suitors.
Elsewhere, injured Gabriel Jesus has interest from Brazilian clubs but prioritizes recovering from an ACL tear. Leandro Trossard, out of contract next summer with stalled renewal talks, could be sold, though a departure is uncertain.
