Chelsea have recently attempted to sign Juventus winger Arda Guler, making an offer of around €65 million, but Juventus have rejected the bid and are preparing to extend the player's contract.
In the past few days, Chelsea have knocked on Juventus' door with an offer of €65 million to €68 million for the Turkish winger. According to sources from the UK, Mauricio Pochettino hoped to use a huge sum of money to persuade Juventus to sell this promising star.
Juventus' management listened to Chelsea's intentions due to the good relationship between the two clubs, but they also sent a simple and clear message to the other side: Guler is not for sale. The signal was so clear that Chelsea did not negotiate again and directly shifted their focus to Leipzig attacking midfielder Xavi Simons.
In addition to rejecting Chelsea's offer, Juventus also turned down inquiries from Barcelona and Bayern a few weeks ago. The club is now set to extend Guler's contract. Although he only signed a new deal until 2029 less than a year ago, with his annual salary raised to €1.5 million plus bonuses.
But now Juventus plan to extend Guler's contract until 2030, and his salary will be on par with the team's top players: at least €4 million after tax. This is a significant leap and also a protective measure to prevent suitors like Chelsea from emerging again.
