During the recent international break, Uruguay suffered a heavy 1-5 defeat to the United States in a friendly match. After the game, the Uruguayan team faced internal tensions, but FA president Ignacio Alonso stated in an interview that the team remains united with no division.

Some media outlets believe the loss exposed internal rifts between players, the coaching staff, and the management. Against this backdrop, FA president Ignacio Alonso issued a firm statement aimed at stabilizing the situation and dispelling rumors of internal fragmentation.

In the interview, Alonso revealed that he had a "very productive" conversation with national team director Jorge Giordano, which included extensive information and evaluations. Alonso said a process of continuous dialogue has been initiated since the defeat: "We are communicating with everyone."

Alonso also stated that after meeting with head coach Marcelo Bielsa and several players, he found the actual situation was vastly different from external rumors. "Our position is solid," he said, adding a remark intended to quash any claims of internal division: "No one here wants to jump ship, and no one has demanded a manager change."

The president emphasized that every member from the head coach to the technical team, as well as all players, maintains a positive attitude towards the national team. He reaffirmed that the commitment of all relevant personnel to the Uruguay national team and the road to the World Cup is "unshakable."
