Following direct communication and negotiations with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur have officially activated the £60 million release clause in midfielder Gibbs-White’s contract, with both parties reaching a principle agreement on the transfer. The 25-year-old English midfielder will head to Tottenham’s training ground on Friday local time to undergo a medical arranged by the club.
Gibbs-White has put in impressive performances for Nottingham Forest over the past three seasons. Last season, he made 34 Premier League appearances for the team, contributing 7 goals and 8 assists. Capable of playing as an attacking midfielder and also filling in as a winger, his agile dribbling, precise passing vision, and finishing ability in key areas have made him one of Forest’s key players.
Following procedure, Tottenham will officially announce the transfer once the medical is passed. Gibbs-White is expected to join the team for training next week to prepare for the new season’s Premier League and Champions League campaigns. This is also Tottenham’s third major signing in midfield and attacking positions this summer, following the arrivals of Mathys Tel and Kudus, highlighting the club’s determination to challenge for a top-four finish in the league and European trophies.
