Celtic and Premier League Rivals Eye Liverpool Star Excluded from Pre-Season

Federico Chiesa's future at Liverpool remains uncertain after a difficult debut season, with the Italian international attracting interest from several clubs this summer.
Celtic and Fulham are considering a move for Liverpool star Federico Chiesa, with both interested in taking the Italian international on loan.
The 27-year-old, Liverpool's only summer signing 12 months ago, has not been included in Arne Slot's pre-season plans. The forward missed the team's tour of Asia, despite featuring in the Merseyside club's first summer friendlies against Stoke City and Preston.
The 2020 European Championship winner is said to have a minor issue, which Liverpool's medical staff are assessing. However, he was involved in training before his team-mates left. The former Juventus star struggled to break into Liverpool's side last season after injuries disrupted the start of his Anfield career. Now, with the arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike in recent weeks, Chiesa faces even stiffer competition.
Chiesa made just 14 appearances last season, with only 6 in the Premier League. Slot used him for just over 100 minutes in Liverpool's title-winning campaign.
However, the Liverpool ace spoke in June and said he would be happy to stay at the club. "The year is over. But it's an experience I would do again."
"Soon I will sit down with the club, [my agent] Fali (Ramadani) and my family to find the best solution. I don't mind staying at Liverpool at all.
Despite struggling for game time, Chiesa has good reason for not being more involved. "If you think I arrived at Liverpool on 26 August, found myself catapulted into another planet with other team-mates, not training with them, with a coach, no friendlies, nothing," he added.

"And, if you remember, in the autumn, Liverpool's attack was three times faster than everyone else, the intensity was incredible.
"Before the game against Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool were ahead of everyone in the league semi-finals and were one of the favourites to win the Champions League that PSG won. Can I start discussing Slot's choices, who has always been very respectful to me and the club?
"(I was competing against) a Ballon d'Or, or one of the candidates (Mohamed Salah). (On the left) there were Luis Díaz and (Cody) Gakpo. Slot also made me play as a 9. It was Max (Allegri) who changed my position, suggesting I move to a second striker to score more goals, and I did.
"The desire to play is there, I put it aside, I understand the situation. I put aside all forms of individualism."
