According to Camel.live, Neymar has requested to play in the remaining three matches of the season despite being diagnosed with an injury and planning to undergo surgery during the upcoming break.
Santos currently ranks 17th in the Brazilian Serie A with 38 points, one point behind Vitoria, which sits just above the relegation zone. In the remaining three rounds of the season, Santos will face Sport Recife, Juventude and Cruzeiro.
After feeling discomfort during the match against Mirassol, Neymar was diagnosed with a left knee meniscus injury, which could have sidelined him for the rest of the season.
However, the star forward is willing to play for the team even while injured.
Reporters learned that Neymar will undergo a "partial meniscectomy" during the break—a cleaning procedure on the meniscus aimed at relieving pain and resolving the issue.
The surgery will require Neymar to undergo approximately 20 to 25 days of rehabilitation, meaning that if he undergoes the procedure now, he will miss the final phase of the Brazilian Serie A.
On Thursday, Neymar, whose left knee is still swollen, attended Santos' training as scheduled despite medical advice against it.
