Newcastle United are on the verge of finalizing an €80 million deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ékitiké.
Currently, Ékitiké's agent Ali Barat is in Newcastle, sorting out the final details of the transfer.
This signing will break the club's transfer record, which was previously set three years ago when Alexander Isak joined for €70 million.
Ékitiké has already agreed a five-year personal contract with Newcastle, and the 23-year-old is set to undergo a medical. His former club Paris Saint-Germain will receive 20% of the transfer fee.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has long been searching for a striker to partner Isak, and he believes Ékitiké will be the perfect attacking foil for the Swedish star.
Last season, Ékitiké made 48 appearances in all competitions for Frankfurt (43 starts), scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists. It was the first time in his career that he scored more than 20 goals in a complete season.
