In Real Madrid's FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinal against Borussia Dortmund, Kylian Mbappé delivered a heartfelt tribute—making a '20' hand  gesture to the camera after scoring, in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother André, who recently died in a car accident. The French forward later shared a photo of the celebration on social media, explicitly dedicating it to the Jota brothers.

Diogo Jota, Liverpool's 28-year-old Portuguese striker, tragically lost his life alongside younger brother André Silva in a Spanish car crash. The tragedy sent shockwaves through the football world, prompting an outpouring of condolences across the sport.

During the Dortmund match, Mbappé pointed to his jersey and formed the number '20' with his fingers—a direct homage to the shirt number Jota wore during his time at Liverpool. The gesture quickly became a symbol of solidarity with Jota's grieving family and teammates, who are mourning the sudden loss.

Before kick-off, the Club World Cup fixture paused for a minute of silence, with both teams wearing black armbands in honor of the Jota family. Mbappé's tribute added a poignant layer to Real Madrid's 3-2 victory, securing their progression to the semifinals.
