Matheus Cunha joined Manchester United from Wolves in this summer's transfer window for a fee of €74.2 million. Last season, he made 36 appearances for Wolves, scoring 17 goals and providing 6 assists.
Manchester United official announcement:
Matheus Cunha will wear the No. 10 shirt as a Manchester United player.
The Brazilian completed his transfer from Wolves in June and reported to Carrington for pre-season training on Monday.
Cunha helped Wolves avoid relegation in the second half of the 2024/25 season and enjoyed a well-deserved summer break.
He also represented Brazil in last month's World Cup qualifiers, where they secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Last season, after taking over the No. 10 shirt from Daniel Podence at Wolves, Cunha scored 15 goals in 33 games.
He previously wore the No. 12 at Wolves, and the No. 9 and No. 19 during his time at Atlético Madrid.
Matheus wore the No. 10 at Hertha Berlin during the 2020/21 season, though his shirt numbers varied at Sion and RB Leipzig.
The number is highly prestigious in Matheus' home country of Brazil, having been synonymous with several of the nation's biggest footballing stars.
There is no doubt that Cunha will feature in United's pre-season tour later this month.
Amorim's side will face Leeds United in Stockholm before traveling to the United States for three Premier League Summer Series matches.
Fiorentina are the final opponents of the summer, with the Italians visiting Old Trafford a week before the start of the top-flight season.
