Manchester United is set to inform Chelsea and all interested clubs that they aim to sell Alejandro Garnacho for around £50 million.
Manager Amorim told the Argentine winger to find a new club three months ago, but as the September 1st transfer deadline approaches, Garnacho remains at Old Trafford.
Stamford Bridge is regarded as the most likely destination for the 21-year-old, yet he will only be allowed to leave if an offer meets United's expectations. The club believes all evidence demonstrates that their valuation is completely fair and accurate.
If Chelsea does make an offer that falls short of United's expectations, it could be pointed out to the Blues that they sold English winger Noni Madueke for £48.5 million this summer, and United considers Garnacho to be at least his equal.
He can also be compared to recent transfers of players of his age. These include former Manchester United academy player Anthony Elanga, for whom Nottingham Forest paid around £52 million to Newcastle United.
Elanga may have around 20 more top-flight appearances than Garnacho, but he has 21 fewer European appearances.
United also argues that Garnacho's statistics are comparable to those of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, whom Chelsea signed from Borussia Dortmund with an initial fee of £48.5 million, and far higher than those of Omari Hutchinson, who moved from Ipswich Town to Forest for £37.5 million last weekend.
