Manchester City Football Club has confirmed that Omar Marmoush sustained a knee injury while representing the Egyptian national team.
The City striker picked up the injury in the early stages of Egypt's World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso on Tuesday night.
Initial scans conducted in Egypt have revealed that he will be unavailable for Sunday's Manchester Derby, and he will return to Manchester for further assessments and to begin his rehabilitation.
