Despite Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan personally intervening in Alexander Isak's situation, hoping to persuade the Swedish striker to stay at the club, Isak remains steadfast in his decision to leave Newcastle United.
Isak has reiterated his desire to be allowed to join Liverpool, even though Newcastle has not yet received an offer from the Reds that comes close to the club's valuation of him.
On Monday, a delegation from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and co-owner Jamie Reuben met with Isak at his home. However, following this meeting, Newcastle's senior management seemingly made no progress in getting Isak to return to training.
Isak appears determined to continue his training boycott until he secures a favorable resolution before the end of the transfer window. With only six days left until the deadline of this summer's transfer window, it seems certain that the striker will miss Newcastle's match against Leeds United on Saturday. He has already refused to participate in the games against Aston Villa and Liverpool.
Liverpool is understood to be ready to make a second bid for Isak, more than three weeks after their initial £110 million offer was rejected. However, the club is waiting for a signal from Newcastle's board that they are willing to let the player go.
Nevertheless, Liverpool is reluctant to submit another offer without any prospect of success and will not pay anything close to Newcastle's £150 million asking price.
As things stand, Newcastle still refuses to approve the transfer, and their stance that the conditions for Isak's potential departure have not been met remains unwavering. Not only must Liverpool match their valuation of the player, but Newcastle also needs to sign two strikers before the window closes.
