Recently, Lionel Messi gave an exclusive interview with reporters, covering a wide range of topics during the conversation. One segment touched on his relationship with Pep Guardiola and his admiration for the coach who led him to achieve everything during their time at Barcelona.
“For me, Guardiola is unique. Of course, there are many other extremely outstanding coaches, but Guardiola has some extraordinary qualities. For me, he’s the best among all coaches,” Messi began, placing Guardiola above all the head coaches he has worked with.
Additionally, Messi explained what he believes sets the Spanish coach apart: “He is very comprehensive in how he sees things, prepares for games, and conveys messages to players. He’s the best. We were lucky to work with him at Barcelona, and also lucky that our group of players at that time fit perfectly into the complete puzzle he envisioned to achieve all those accomplishments.”
“He then went elsewhere and continued to win. Not just because of the victories, but also because of the way he makes his teams play. He did it at Bayern – even though he didn’t win the Champions League, he changed the style of play in the Bundesliga; the same in England with Manchester City, where he transformed the entire league’s approach to the game,” the Argentine star concluded.
