After the conclusion of the 2025 Ballon d'Or awards ceremony, Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona, shared his thoughts on the event.
On Barça Femení Players' Awards
“It feels absolutely fantastic. Because, you see, first of all, Aitana Bonmatí’s third Ballon d’Or—that’s an extraordinary achievement. Bonmatí fully deserves this honor, and the way she expressed her gratitude was touching too. Well, as Barça’s president, I feel extremely excited, grateful, and proud of her performance, right?”
“Beyond her, Ewa Pajor also won an award, and Vicky López did too. I’m very proud of this. We have to thank Barça Femení’s football, as it allows us to witness these historic moments at the globally recognized Ballon d’Or ceremony in the football world—it’s truly significant.”
On Lamine Yamal Winning the Kopa Trophy
“Moreover, this year we’re also fortunate to celebrate Lamine Yamal winning the Kopa Trophy once again. I think this is also unique—never before in history has such a young player lifted the Kopa Trophy twice. I believe Lamine will be even more motivated by this to keep working hard and improving, both for his personal goals and for collective honors. Yamal is a team player; he always works diligently and shows tremendous professionalism. Now, I think all of us should cheer him on.”
On the Atmosphere at the Ceremony
"I’m glad to be here with players like Raphinha. We also saw Ronaldinho and Andrés Iniesta presenting awards—it was almost like an exclusive Barça celebration. Therefore, our fans can be proud of this, because well, although Barça’s number of awards is temporarily tied with Paris Saint-Germain this time, I hope we can break this tie this year, this season—I have to tell you that (goal). It’s a great source of pride to see FC Barcelona gain recognition and respect in football."
