The Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) issued an official announcement confirming the end of its cooperation with manager Patrick Kluivert, following Indonesia’s failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The full text of the announcement reads:"After nearly 12 months of close cooperation (having started in January this year, the actual duration is 9 months), PSSI extends its highest gratitude to Coach Kluivert and his team for their dedication and contributions to Indonesian football.
Following full communication and open discussions based on mutual respect, both parties have mutually agreed to terminate this cooperation.
We appreciate the commitment and professionalism demonstrated by Coach Kluivert and his team during their tenure.
Their passion and efforts in Indonesia will be remembered forever, and we wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
(End of announcement)"
Kluivert once led Indonesia to beat China PR and Bahrain in the Round of 18 of this year’s World Cup Qualifiers, securing qualification for the Fourth Round. However, in the Fourth Round, Indonesia lost 2-3 to Saudi Arabia and 0-1 to Iraq, missing out on a spot in the 2026 World Cup finals.
