In the EAFF E-1 Football Championship that concluded yesterday, Japan's men's national team eased past Hong Kong, China 6-1. After the match, Japan head coach Hajime MORIYASU gave an interview.
For this edition of the EAFF Championship, MORIYASU only called up domestic players from the J.League, and as many as 10 Japanese players made their international debuts in this match. In the end, Japan comfortably beat Hong Kong, China 6-1.
Speaking about the game, MORIYASU said: “Despite the short preparation time, I think the players communicated with each other in meetings, training sessions and individual activities, and brought out the best in themselves both individually and as a team in such a tough first match. These players have performed well in the J.League, and they showed confidence in this high-level game. Today, they also put in the performances they usually deliver. I believe they all demonstrated the ambition to develop further in the future.”
Japan's next match will be against China's men's national team, and MORIYASU is not taking it lightly: "Although the Chinese team lost their first match, I think they are full of potential. We will go all out to secure a win while maximizing the current strengths of each player."
