After joining Liverpool for a club-record £116 million transfer fee this summer, German midfielder Florian Wirtz has consistently failed to deliver impressive performances—and there is simply no suitable role for him in Liverpool’s tactical system.
A pundit from Camel Live stated: “I’m really troubled by Wirtz’s situation. Yesterday, he played on the left flank, and the coaching staff is forcing him into the lineup. I think he’s better suited to the number 10 role, but he’s yet to produce any standout displays so far.”
“Looking back at all his appearances since joining Liverpool, in every game he’s either been substituted off or came on as a substitute. He’s completely failed to adapt to the club’s system quickly, which is concerning. We all acknowledge his talent, but week after week, not only has he failed to secure a regular spot, he hasn’t even shown a trend of improvement… In fact, he’s gone backwards since the start of the season.”
“I think the Community Shield might have been his best game in a Liverpool shirt—he actually made an impact that day. While it’s too early to jump to conclusions, and I’m not picking on him, his performances are really worrying because they’re just not good enough.”
When asked, “Is Wirtz part of Liverpool’s strongest lineup?”, the pundit replied: “Based on his current form, obviously not. His performances right now fall far short of the standards required for a starting spot. You can only hope he adapts gradually, like Alexander Isak did when he joined Newcastle. Arnaud Kalimuendo hit the ground running, didn’t he? On his debut for Liverpool, he seemed to have integrated into the system as if he’d been there all along—he looked a perfect fit for the team.”
“Not every signing works out smoothly. While it’s still too early to make a final judgment, Wirtz is definitely a cause for concern. No one doubts his talent, but whether it was during his time in the Bundesliga or now, he’s always a split second too slow in his ball handling and often dispossessed. Those clever passing ideas he has never materialize.”
