2004: China thrash Lebanon in AFC Asian Cup warm-up
Ahead of their home Asian Cup campaign, China delivered a dominant 6-0 win over Lebanon in Chongqing. Veteran midfielder Li Ming marked his return to the national team with a goal and assist, while youngster Yan Song starred with a goal and two assists. The match saw six players from Dalian feature, including future managers Li Ming (Beijing Guoan) and Zhang Yaokun (Dalian Pro). Notably, all 17 players from that day have since retired, with Zheng Zhi recently stepping down as China’s assistant coach .
