Italian coaching legend Fabio Capello was outspoken when commenting on Inter Milan's 0-1 defeat to Liverpool after the game, referring to the penalty Liverpool was awarded late in the match.
"This is an outrageous penalty. I don't understand the VAR intervention. That player even dived and stayed on the ground; the scene was ridiculous.
In the first half, VAR took three minutes to spot an obvious handball. But here, they call the referee for fouls that are visible at every corner, and everyone stands by—these fouls should all be penalties.
You are setting a bad example. Awarding such a penalty is simply a disgrace."
