According to sources from camel.live, Barcelona player Ronald Araujo rejected offers from several top clubs during this summer transfer window, stating that he wants to achieve success at Barcelona.
This summer, in July, his release clause was temporarily reduced to €60 million, making Araujo a target for many top clubs. This was indeed the case: Juventus made another move to sign him, while Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea also joined the pursuit. However, the player gave a clear response to his representatives: he did not want to leave Barcelona. He wants to achieve success here and is eager to “pull out the thorn” left from recent seasons in the Champions League.
According to reporters, Araujo’s contract with FC Barcelona runs until 2031, and he intends to see out the contract. Although it cannot be ruled out that the situation may change in the next few years if his role becomes less important or he no longer feels valued, at least for now, his desire to achieve success at Barcelona is very clear.
The media also noted that Araujo is so focused on this that he even felt relieved about not being called up to the Uruguay national team for this international break, as it allows him to rest from the physical exhaustion of the dense fixture schedule.
Araujo is the club’s captain who wears the armband and leads by example. This is evident from how he was among the first to gather around with a few of his closest teammates to comfort and support Gavi after the latter suffered a heavy injury.
He also knows that this season is crucial for him to solidify his position at the club, thereby ensuring a spot in the Uruguay national team for the next World Cup. He has also seen that Hansi Flick is relying on him in the rotation arrangements for centre-backs.
