Team History
In 1933, Hertha Salzburg and Rapid Salzburg merged to form SV Austria Salzburg. In 1953, SV Salzburg was promoted to Austria’s top-flight league for the first time. During the 1971/72 season, SV Salzburg qualified for European competitions for the first time in its history. In the 1993/94 season, SV Salzburg won its first domestic top-flight league title and finished as runners-up in the UEFA Cup final after losing to Inter Milan. In the 1994/95 season, SV Salzburg eliminated Maccabi Haifa to reach the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time.
In 2005, Red Bull became the main sponsor of the Salzburg team, and the club was renamed ""FC Red Bull Salzburg"". In the 2009/10 season, the team won six consecutive matches to finish first in the group, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League round of 32 for the first time. The 2011/12 season saw the team claim its first domestic double. In the 2013/14 season, Salzburg eliminated Ajax to reach the Europa League round of 16 for the first time. During the 2017/18 season, the club made history by reaching the Europa League semi-finals.

Nowadays
In the 2021/22 season, Salzburg won its ninth consecutive league title and reached the Champions League round of 16 for the first time. The 2022/23 season saw the team set a record by winning the Austrian Football Bundesliga for the 10th consecutive time. In the 2023/24 season, the team finished second in the league, ending its streak of consecutive titles. In the 2024/25 season, Salzburg finished 34th in the Champions League group stage and was eliminated.
As of February 2025, FC Red Bull Salzburg has won 17 Austrian Football Bundesliga titles, 9 Austrian Cup titles, and 3 Austrian Super Cup titles."
