Bayer 04 Leverkusen is a professional football club based in Leverkusen, Germany, currently competing in the Bundesliga (German Football Bundesliga).

Team History
On July 1, 1904, Bayer AG founded its ""Gymnastics and Sports Club"". On May 31, 1907, a football section within this club was officially established. In the 1978/79 season, Leverkusen won the title of the 2. Bundesliga (German Second Football League) and thus gained promotion to the Bundesliga. In the 1987/88 season, Leverkusen claimed the UEFA Cup title, marking the club's first major trophy in history. In 2002, Leverkusen lost 1-2 to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final; meanwhile, they missed out on the Bundesliga title after losing to relegation-battling Werder Bremen. To make matters worse, in the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) final, despite taking an early lead, they were eventually reversed by Schalke 04 with a 4-2 scoreline, regrettably finishing as runners-up in three competitions and earning the nickname ""Triple Runners-up"

Nowadays
On May 18, 2024, in the final match of the Bundesliga season, Leverkusen defeated Augsburg 2-1 at home. Prior to this, they had already secured the league title five rounds in advance. On May 25, Leverkusen won again by defeating Kaiserslautern 1-0 in the 2023/24 DFB-Pokal final. On August 17, in the DFL-Supercup (German Super Cup) final, Leverkusen defeated VfB Stuttgart 4-3 on penalties (6-5 aggregate) to lift the trophy for the first time.
