Recently, Steven Gerrard stated in an interview with Camel Live that he fully supports Arne Slot, and also frankly said that he is willing to return to Liverpool in any capacity.
Gerrard said, “I’m 100% honest with you. Whenever and wherever it is, in any department, I am ready to work for Liverpool and help the team overcome difficulties.”
“I do not want Slot to be sacked. I hope he can resolve the current predicament, lead the team out of the slump and restore Liverpool’s glory. Just four or five months ago, when Liverpool won the league title, I was celebrating joyfully all over the city.”
“I am a Liverpool fan, and my heart is always with the team. But if Liverpool needs me in any position at any time, I will step forward without hesitation.”
In addition, Gerrard also looked back on his coaching experience at Aston Villa: “Entering my second season in charge, I thought to myself, ‘We have lifted Villa from 17th in the league table to 7th, 8th and 9th place. The team is on a positive development trajectory. We also completed three or four excellent signings. The goal for the new season is to secure a top-10 finish, and maybe we can challenge for the League Cup. It would be even better if we could qualify for European competitions.’”
“But our season got off to an extremely poor start. We lost 0-2 to Bournemouth, and our performance in that game was disastrous—tactical arrangements were chaotic, and the players were completely out of form. The result was a huge shock. Later, we beat Everton 1-0 in the Merseyside Derby, which helped steady the ship a little bit.”
"But by the end of October, when the team’s momentum was completely lost, I felt that I could no longer turn the tide. I think I acted too hastily back then, changing Villa’s internal atmosphere too quickly and alienating too many people in the dressing room. That was a huge blow to me."
