A few days before the 2026 World Cup draw, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) held an event titled "AFA as a Global Brand, The Power of a Brand" at the Summit One skyscraper in New York. Emiliano Martínez attended the event and expressed clear optimism about the upcoming World Cup to be held in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
Martínez conveyed his desire to participate in the World Cup via video call: “It’s not just me – most players who have played in the World Cup have a strong longing. It’s hard to explain, but I’m even more passionate than last time.”
The goalkeeper then emphasized the importance of being part of the Argentine national team: “Winning individual or club trophies is like the cherry on top of the dessert, but the complete dessert of my entire career has always been playing for the Argentine national team. When I play for the national team, I can feel my strength – I have an entire country and my family behind me.”
Finally, Martínez reflected on his physical condition at the age of 33: “My physical condition is very good. I have unique physical fitness that allows me to play again two days after a high-intensity match. You’re going to play 60 games – don’t think about the World Cup at the end of the season, otherwise it will be difficult to give 100%.”
