This speculation grew when he missed Liverpool’s Asian tour, but the truth is, the Reds never planned to put him on the market. Chiesa’s absence was purely due to a minor muscle issue, requiring specialized training and temporary rest from matches. While this may seem like "diplomatic talk" to cool transfer rumors, it could also leave room for driving up bids late in the window.
However, Chiesa has recently held direct talks with manager Arne Slot, and his agent Ramadani has met with Liverpool executives. The club’s response was unambiguous: Chiesa is vital, especially as recent transfers have reduced the number of wingers in the squad.
With 20 days left in the window, it’s too early to say for sure, but Liverpool are resolute for now. Meanwhile, the Reds are locked in a costly standoff with Newcastle United over Alexander Isak—a potential deal that could be Europe’s priciest this summer, with Newcastle’s Saudi owners rejecting Liverpool’s €125m bid.
Chiesa’s style differs from Isak’s, and a late-window bid for him can’t be ruled out, but for now, Liverpool won’t let him leave.
Napoli, after missing out on Oumar N’Doye to Nottingham Forest, are eyeing the Premier League for a left-sided winger who can create threats—and Chiesa fits the bill, with Antonio Conte also rating him highly. Additionally, Chiesa himself is open to returning to Italy, aiming to secure a starting spot and reclaim his place in the Italy national team.
Inter Milan also considered Chiesa, but Liverpool’s stance has complicated their plans, at least for now.
