Liverpool have reached an agreement on personal terms with Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. The 24-year-old has agreed to his salary and contract duration at Liverpool, and the Reds must now negotiate a transfer fee with Crystal Palace.

Guehi's desire to join Liverpool is driven by his ambition to secure a place in England's 2026 World Cup squad for the tournament in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Early in discussions about a potential move, Guehi's camp emphasized the need for patience.

Another advantage of Liverpool signing Guehi is his homegrown player status, which helps meet Premier League squad registration requirements.

Guehi has made it clear he will not renew his contract with Crystal Palace, which has one year left. Since then, he has been linked with multiple top clubs, but Liverpool currently hold the strongest position in the transfer race.

As previously reported, Crystal Palace still insist on a transfer fee exceeding £40 million. This is due to a clause in the 2021 transfer agreement when Chelsea sold Guehi to Palace for £18 million, requiring Palace to pay Chelsea 20% of any future transfer fee.

Guehi has performed strongly for England, making 23 appearances. Last season, he played 44 matches for Crystal Palace, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists.
