Official news confirms that 28-year-old midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur officially announced that Bentancur has put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the club. His original contract with the club was set to expire in the summer of 2026.
Since joining Tottenham from Juventus in January 2022, the 28-year-old Uruguayan midfielder has made 122 appearances for the club to date, scoring 9 goals.
Bentancur said: “I feel really good and am extremely happy to continue writing my story at this wonderful club. My family is happy; I have great friends and teammates who work hard every day. I love this club and feel very comfortable here. Winning the Europa League was an amazing moment, and now we want to build on that and win more trophies. We have a new head coach and a new captain, and I hope to enjoy many more years at the club.”
Head coach Thomas Frank stated: "I am absolutely delighted that Bentancur has committed his future to the club. This shows he believes in what we are building here and that we are embarking on a journey we hope will be truly special. Bentancur is a crucial part of that. He is an excellent midfielder who can control the game and act as the link that holds the team together. He also has the ability to burst into the penalty area, create goals, and score himself."
