Phil Foden scored a brace as Manchester City secured a dramatic 3-2 late win over Leeds United. After the game, Pep Guardiola stated that Foden reminded him of a player he coached during his time at Barcelona. Foden subsequently responded to the comment.
Reporter: Here, Pep said the way you scored the second goal – the touch to create space and the finish – reminded him of Messi, whom he coached at Barcelona. How does that make you feel?
Foden: It’s amazing to hear the manager say that, but no one can compare to Messi. His career achievements are obvious. In my opinion, Messi is the best player in my heart.
Of course, it’s a compliment from the manager – nice.
