According to reporters from camel.live, Kylian Mbappé rejected a "revenge friendly" against Argentina last year, citing concerns over the risks posed by long-distance travel.
Since Hugo Lloris retired from the French national team, Mbappé has been wearing the captain’s armband. He previously held discussions with Philippe Diallo, President of the French Football Federation (FFF).
Diallo’s idea was to schedule a "lucrative revenge match" during an international break in 2024—one that would both avenge France’s loss to Argentina in the December 2022 World Cup final (where Argentina defeated France on penalties) and generate significant revenue.
However, Mbappé took the initiative to call the president and vetoed the match, arguing that the risk of a 10-hour flight during the season was too high. While the match venue was never announced, based on the flight duration mentioned by Mbappé, the potential locations were likely in Asia or the United States.
