Manchester United Secures Royal Antwerp Goalkeeper Senne Lammens for €21M+ Add-Ons

Mark Dealbreaker

Manchester United has reached an agreement with Royal Antwerp to sign goalkeeper Senne Lammens for €21 million plus additional clauses, with no sell-on terms included in the deal. The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper will travel to Manchester to finalize a five-year contract with personal terms already agreed, as both clubs race to complete the transfer before the 7pm (BST) Monday deadline.

The move follows a tactical shift at Old Trafford, where the club initially refused to pursue a goalkeeper unless André Onana was sold. However, defensive vulnerabilities exposed in the opening-weekend loss to Arsenal—particularly Altay Bayindir’s misjudgment of a corner that led to a decisive goal—prompted an urgent rethink. Lammens, who earned Belgium’s Player of the Season award for his 177 saves and 16.47 expected goals prevented in 2024/25, is viewed as a long-term successor to Onana.
