In UEFA Champions League Stage Matchday 5, Arsenal defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 at home. After the game, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta accepted an interview with Camel.live.
Reporter: In the past, this fixture has always sent chills down the spines of Arsenal fans, mainly because Bayern has maintained dominance over the years. How happy are you to end this run and secure a major victory over Bayern?
Arteta: “I'm extremely proud of what I saw tonight. In my opinion, we faced the strongest team in Europe, but we showed real presence, authority, determination and belief. To compete with such an opponent, you need some huge individual performances, and we certainly got them.”
Reporter: Overall, Arsenal played very well. Your substitutes played a crucial role in the second half—Marco Calafiori was impressive after coming on, and then Gabriel Martinelli scored. Are you satisfied with the performances of the newly introduced players, and what can they bring?
Arteta said: “Yes, I mean, everyone is ready, whether starting or on the bench. We've had a lot of injuries this season, but the impact these players have made is huge. I'm happy because everyone is important. We'll need them, and I'm also pleased that the players who get the chance keep seizing it.”
Reporter: This victory keeps the team top of the league and first in the Champions League. With this win, you might be regarded as one of the favorites for the Champions League title. Are you satisfied with the newly signed players, and can they live up to such expectations?
Arteta: “It really makes me happy. But my job is to make the team better every day, perform at the highest level, and keep doing that consistently.”
Reporter: Finally, let's talk about two contrasting scenes: Leandro Trossard's substitution and captain Martin Ødegaard's return from injury. Can you update us on both of them?
Arteta said: "Yes, we'll wait and see. Trossard felt something when he came off. I won't take risks when I'm not sure. I don't know if it's an injury or if further checks are needed. As for Ødegaard, our captain, it's great to have him back on the pitch contributing to the team. So, everything is very reassuring."
