Arsenal's entire squad has now been granted two days of rest and is expected to return to the training center on Tuesday to begin preparations for the away match against Everton.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also stated after the win over Wolves that fielding Saliba was a risk as the defender has not yet fully recovered. When asked about Ben White's injury, he explained: "Due to a previous knee issue, White hasn't played much.
But just as he was getting into form, he had to play a lot because we had no other options.
“We even had to take a risk with Saliba today because playing him the full 90 minutes might not have been the best option. We're sowing the seeds for another injury here, but we really had no one else available.”
White felt discomfort in his hamstring while tracking back to defend Hwang Hee-chan and was forced to come off shortly after halftime. Youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly came on as a substitute, and the former Brighton defender will now undergo tests to determine if he has suffered a serious injury.
Arteta added about White's injury: “It looks like a hamstring injury, but we'll know more tomorrow or the day after.”
Arsenal players have now been given two days off and will return to the Sobha Realty Training Centre on Tuesday, when they will start preparing for the match against Everton. Arsenal had re-established a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, but that gap narrowed back to two points after Manchester City's win at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Nevertheless, Arteta still sees a positive side in the fact that Arsenal managed to win the game, something he feels the team might not have achieved in previous seasons.
He continued: "This is a very positive aspect, but I don't attribute it to resilience. We should have nipped the problem in the bud earlier, and that's our responsibility. You have to praise Wolves and their performance. I watched their away game at Stamford Bridge (Chelsea's home ground) and their match against Villa; they didn't get the results they deserved, they were very unlucky.
"I knew this game would never be easy, but our own performance made it even harder, especially the way we conceded the goal – that's unacceptable."
